SUMMER 2020

It started as a loose group gathering for an occasional drive.
But when the world went indoors during the summer of 2020, we figured other people might need some of this medicine too. So we gave it a name and spread the word.

We’re for diverse machines and diverse drivers. You might say it’s naive to think vintage, modern, Euro, JDM and domestic models and their drivers can hang out together and get along. Yeah, maybe.

But so far, it's working.

FAQs

What is this thing?

Breakfast Club Rally® - we don’t serve breakfast, it’s not a club, and it’s not really a rally, either. It’s an hour and a half of hanging out drinking coffee, followed by two to three hours on backroads stripped by vineyards, rivers, redwoods, farmland, and the coast, with a bunch of likeminded driving enthusiasts. Our monthly, brand-agnostic, mostly-vintage, value-blind rally goes down on the Second Saturday each and every month, year-round (two exceptions: January’s rally is on New Year’s Day, and August’s is in Carmel on the Saturday of Monterey Car Week). We also have special annual events (Air-Cooled Affair®, Blacktop Friday®, British Steel®, and Tokyo Calling®) and, from time-to-time, one-offs. All events are $50. Subscribe to our newsletter to hear about upcoming events first.

How do I join your club?

We’re no club, Jack. Yeah, we know, we’ve got the word “CLUB” in our name, but we ain’t a car club.

Is BCR Euro-only?

Nope.

Is it vintage-only?

No, “mostly” vintage. Interesting late-model cars are welcome - registration for post-1999 cars is limited to 20% of the rally roster.

Is it sports car-only?

Nah- ‘90s and earlier SUV’s, wagons, sedans- models that are different, forgotten, weird, or unloved are just as cool as fully restored high-dollar vintage sports cars, if you ask us.

Can I show up in my hot new SUV?

Sorry, post-1999 trucks, SUV’s, CUV’s and vans aren’t eligible, nor are motorcycles.

What kind of cars, then?

We’re going for an eclectic mix of old and/or interesting vehicles. Old = pre-2000; you meet that criteria, you’re in- classic Porsches, Jaguars, Alfa’s, Datsuns, Fords, etc. Interesting = something you don’t see on the street 347 times a day. That could be just about any sports car, a modern car that’s rare or in a unique spec, a grey market import, or a backyard-modded enthusiast project.

But, I only like hanging out with people who drive the same car as me.

That’s cute. We’re not for you.

Is my car BCR-eligible for the monthly rally?

If it’s model year 1999 or earlier, yes.

Model year 2000 and newer car entries are limited to “enthusiast” models and other “interesting“ vehicles- sports cars, low production runs, unusual/exotic marques, grey market imports, backyard-modded enthusiast projects, things like that. Motorcycles and post-1999 SUVs/CUVs/trucks/minivans are not eligible. If in doubt your vehicle is eligible, feel free to check with us prior to submitting an application - click here.

Is this thing a charity?

Nope. We do sometime benefit charities, but BCR is not one.

Can I opt to pay less than the registration fee (or nothing at all)?

Nope.

What do I do the day of the rally?

What do I do the day of the rally? Just show up with your car fueled up, the rally's parking cling (sent via snail mail) affixed to the top left corner of your windshield, and the Rally Info Packet (sent via email). We’ll hang out ‘till 9am, and then we’ll hop in our cars and go for a drive. It’s simple, really.

Can I drive like an absolute maniac?

Hell no. Get outta here with that. Might want to familiarize yourself with this.

Is it ok to shadow a drive?

Sorry, our drives are limited by number of participants for courtesy, safety and, most importantly, fun. If you didn't score a spot, try us again next month, we'll be here.

Can I come and just check out the cars?

Sorry, these events are private and for registered participants only. We don’t view our drivers or their cars as attractions, so the answer is “no.”

I’ve got a car-related product/business- can I market it to fellow BCR attendees at the cars & coffee hour?

Nope. We’ve got a strict no-suitcasing policy- no one wants to be marketed to on their Saturday morning. Just relax and go for a drive, buddy.

Can I buy BCR tee’s, decals, and stuff at your events?

BCR, Air-cooled Affair®, and Tokyo Calling® products are only available via our shop. The social hour before our drives is marketing-free - we’re all there to enjoy ourselves and hang out with fellow car folks, not engage in crass commercialism.

How long will my order take to reach me?

We only ship on weekends; once shipped, expect to receive your items within approx. 3 days.

From what planet does it cost $5 to ship a decal?

To keep things simple, we use a flat shipping rate- $5. We price our decals intentionally low to offset this- add some heavy items to your order to get your money’s worth.

Can I place an order on the website and pick it up at an event?

Sorry, no.
