Air-Cooled Affair 005

Air-Cooled Affair returns Saturday, June 24th, 2023 for round 005.

ACA005 is a special limited-capacity event focused exclusively on vehicles powered by air-cooled engines from Porsche and other manufacturers (VW, Corvair, Tatra, Trabant, NSU, BMW, Citroën, Fiat, Morgan, etc.).

Before the rally, we’ll meet at 8am at an undisclosed, but very cool start point in Central Marin County to hang out and get caffeinated. At 9am, we’ll take off in 3 groups (HARE, TORTOISE, and SNAIL) 5 minutes apart. After an 85 mile gallop through redwoods, coastal towns, and rural farmland, we’ll come to a rest in Rohnert Park, where you can grab some tacos and a beer or just head on home.

Tickets are $50 (credit cards / Apple Pay). What does your $50 get you? Only this: a parking sticker, an email with starting time, location, and route directions, and an amazing morning out on Northern California’s best backroads with a crüe of like-minded drivers.

What cars are eligible?
Any vehicle powered by an air-cooled engine; no motorcycles, and no engine-swapped, formerly air-cooled vehicles will be admitted. Sorry, this year we will not consider liquid-cooled Porsches.

All applications are subject to review and approval by BCR; in the case your application is not accepted, your ticket fee will be refunded. Ticket is per vehicle  -  not per person. Share the good times; feel free to bring as many people as your car can safely seat.

*If in doubt your vehicle is eligible, you can check prior to submitting an application - click here.

This event is rain or shine.

Drivers must be at least 18 years old. Registration is valid for a single driver (named in the registration application).

Co-drivers (18 or over) who deliver a co-driver agreement , navigators, and passengers welcome.

Don’t make us say “no burnouts.” You’re better than that, right?

BCR has a strict “No Suitcasing” policy: this is a drive, not a marketing opportunity. Leave your logos, leaflets, FOR SALE signs, stickers, business cards, flyers, and branded trinkets at home.

The drive begins staging at 9am and will take about 2.5 hrs. Drive at a speed comfortable to you, taking into consideration weather and road conditions, always yield to quicker vehicles, and never pass on a double yellow line.

A link to download turn-by-turn directions will be sent the week of the drive. Read them. Learn them. Know them. Live them. Don’t rely on the person in front of you to know where they’re going- they don’t.

Roads are pretty smooth the whole way; usual bumps and such, nothing major.

Gas up prior to arriving at the starting location; limited gas stations along the route.

Cell reception unavailable in some areas.

People live and work in these areas we drive through. Be courteous to business owners, employees, homeowners, ranchers, cyclists, pedestrians, pets and livestock you encounter- let’s keep BCR welcome in the area.
